The Monte Arci in the province of Oristano. The highest peak is 812 m (Trebina Longa). The Monte Arci is an old volcano and main source for the vulcanic glass, obsidian. The sides are covered with woods. On top of the mountain a number of windmills have been placed to generate electricity. |

Flora: Part of the macchia mediterranea is the Myrtus communis, the True Myrtle, family of the Myrtaceae. Here a shrub along the road just outside the fences around nuraghe Su Nuraxi. |

Birds: Flamingo‘s can be found in several brackish lagoons around Tharros and Oristano as well as near Cagliari. In the past years they have regained some of the stagni where they had disappeared. |

Birds: Sardinia has it‘s own subspecies of red robin (Erathicus rubecula sardus), here one found along the road near the nuraghe of Genna Maria. |

Birds: Hirundo rustica rustica, swallow. Swallowsnests at the airport of Alghero. |

Birds: Falco tinnunculus tinnunculus, the kestrel. Common species in Sardinia. The kestrel uses the upward force of the wind (therefore also called windhover) to search for his prey along the coast. In this case the kestrel was hovering above our heads near Tharros on the peninsula of Sinis. |
